Whenever someone writes about Spiritualism, their focus is on communication with those in Life’s Other Rooms while ignoring its under lying currents and other important aspects. This is a disservice to Spiritualists. To understand what is often missed, we must look at the foundation. During its formative years, the social state of the country was in upheaval. Many of its framers such as Amy and Isaac Post were involved in the Abolitionist movement. Many of those who participated in the Women’s Rights movement were also Spiritualists. They were seekers of truth, equality, and sought a form of religion that likened itself to the foundations of early Christianity, before its adoption of creeds and doctrine, when communications with those in Life’s Other Rooms played an integral role in people’s lives. For most, these communications were of a mundane sort. For others, these connections moved them, and continue to move others in directions that shift social practice and personal vision.

The Perfect Majesty

And the perfect Majesty is at rest in the ineffable light, in the truth of the mother of all these, and all of you that attain to me, to me alone who am perfect, because of the Word. For I exist with all the greatness of the Spirit, which is a friend to us and our kindred alike, since I brought forth a word to the glory of our Father, through his goodness, as well as an imperishable thought; that is, the Word within him, is it slavery that we shall die with Christ, and an imperishable and undefiled thought, an incomprehensible marvel, the writing of the ineffable water which is the word from us. It is I who am in you, and you are in me, just the Father is in you in innocence.

We draw from the first paragraph of the Gnostic writing, The Second Treatise of the Great Seth. This is only how I have chosen to interpret these words today. Tomorrow, I will have evolved and may interpret them differently, as you should.

And the perfect Majesty is at rest in the ineffable light, in the truth of the mother of all these, and all of you that attain to me, to me alone who am perfect because of the Word. Perfection is not something that does not change but is continual change. Perfection is a process of change. Perfection is a process of continual adjustment, adaptation, and evolution. Despite the many writings of what is commonly referred to as God being unchanging, this cannot be. All of nature is in constant flux, a state of perfection. It is the closed mind that attempts to capture the essence of what they believe to be God in an attempt to possess it, but it cannot be possessed because in its perfect is different from moment to the next. When someone hears the word Majesty, they, at first, think of a sovereign; however, majesty is also beauty. Ineffable is a more elegant way of saying indescribable. Thus, we begin with the perfect Majesty, the continuous beauty resting within an indescribable light, also known as the Great Glory.

In the truth of the mother of all these, and all of you that attain to me, who am perfect because of the Word. In accordance with the mother of all these and all of you that inherit from me, who is continuous because of the Word, because of thought or Mind, which gives birth to the old, to the present, and to what is to come. Mother is the beginning, and from the beginning we were perfect because of the Word. From the beginning were with that which is referred to as God, but we have forgotten this. Not because we have descended from on high for the soul can never descend into the lower depths. It is the perception of the soul that looks into the lower depths, and through perception mistakes a reflection as truth. Who is it that speaks? Is it the perfect Majesty? Is it the Word? What is it that changes, yet does not? What is it that rests within light? What is it that give birth which we inherit? What is it that gives continuous birth? Mind gives continuous birth to ideas. Mind is indescribable, ineffable.

I exist with the greatness of the Spirit, which is a friend to us and our kindred alike, since I brought forth a word to the glory of our Father, through his goodness, as well as an imperishable thought. The spirit is life, for God breathed into that which was still, making it a living soul, therefore, spirit is life. What exists with the greatness of life, what is a friend to life, to us, and our kindred? Who are our kindred? We might say the soul exists with the greatness of life and the soul is a friend to us and our kindred, for are we not all souls? We know that word is thought, and thought is mind; we  know the glory is the ineffable light of mind. What is it that impregnates the mind, what is Father? What causes us to give birth to that which does not exist? It is inspiration. Inspiration causes us to aspire to create, to aspire to become more than what we are. The Word within him, the intelligence that is superior to ours is inspiration and through Mind we create and were created. We exist because of goodness, and what is goodness? Goodness is that which nurtures. Goodness is love for love is the imperishable thought. That which nurtures cannot die because nurturing preserves life.

The Word within him, is it slavery that we shall die with Christ, and an imperishable and undefiled thought, an incomprehensible marvel, the writing of the ineffable water which is the word from us. Do we serve? If so, what do we serve that we should die? What is Christ that we should die? Slavery is a state of servitude, and in all the stories of Christ there are none the request any should serve Christ, yet that is what others demand of us. Christ, an imperishable and undefiled thought. Love, which is nurture is the imperishable thought. We nurture Christ through the teachings of Christ and through the teachings of Christ the beautiful light, the ineffable water of light, the undefiled thought that nurtures is the ineffable water of light. That is you. You do not serve Christ, you nurture Christ through the teachings of life, which is the process of nurturing, and we are to nurture each other.

To Experience the Divine

‘Meditation fulfills the desire to experience the Divine, it brings the disciple to connecting with the Divine and forward to immersion within the Divine.’

The disciple first approaches the Divine through the desire of prayer. Through intense prayer does one transition from desire to the path, or the way, entering true meditation, and through the path of meditation does the disciple enter into the Divine. Thus, begins the true journey of the soul, for the soul no longer seeks the Divine but merges with the Divine through indistinction.

‘We become one with the Divine through learning, uniting with our soul.’

Meditation reorients the mind towards a different reality than what was experienced. Reality is no longer experienced through an emotional state, or even an intellectual state. Reality is experienced as an immersion and as one’s immersion deepens so does the perception of reality until the Divine is seen in all that exists, from the sensations of the senses, intellectual and emotional expressions, to the beginnings of the thread that connects one mind to another. It is through this connection that true Divinity is revealed and the path, once again, is presented in a different perspective.

Key 107.17 of the Book of Enoch

Metatron gives knowledge of the Father to all star universes, so they have a central core in the name of the Father. Metatron is star ionization, or Or-ion knowledge to every star which is created so that it is unified with the core memory in the center of the galaxy; and Metatron gives knowledge of Ze unto ion –  projected light crystal consciousness with the prophets called Zion.[1]

[1] (Hurtak, 1977)

When I am talking about Metatron, I am not referring to an Archangel or some form of craft. I am referring to it as it is presented in each verse, which appears to be some form of process. Metatron gives knowledge. This is a process for obtaining or receiving information and there are a variety of ways to receive information besides the formats we are accustomed to. Star universes suggest that these other processes for obtaining information are experiential. Meditation is a common experiential method for obtaining information, or should I say experiencing information. Channeling, or spirit teachings, and the texts based upon these teachings are considered spiritual teachings, and there are a slew of them writings ranging from classic occult writings, such as those of Alice Bailey, Edgar Cayce’s material and other authors of the day. Many of these are couched in symbols, poetry, mythology, and religious iconography. These teachings present several ideas that formulate common themes, among them is the nurturing of humankind known as love; another is the folly of mankind, the need to be kind and the list goes on. One might say these teachings have a central core.

Metatron is a star ionizer. Stars are light, which represent information or knowledge. I have said that Metatron is a process. Metatron, being a star ionizer, converts light, or energy, into information, or knowledge, which is another common theme to spiritual texts. Orion, or Or-ion knowledge is the conversion of knowledge into matter, or something in the physical realm. In short, as it is presented, Metatron initiates the creative process, or Divine Creation. When the information is passed on to us, we too create. All create, and each of us is a star universe because from each of us emanates light. This is demonstrated in today’s scientific investigations which have revealed map of light circuitry that operates differently from molecular counterparts, suggesting there is a light body separate from the molecular body.[1]

Ze, possibly zeh, means that which happens. Ion meaning act or process. Another potential application or process of creation. Zion means to be dry, which is one of the alchemical elements associated with intelligence. Light is from the sun and is considered to be dry and hot, which brings us back to the intellect or knowledge. From the ‘Divine Poemander,’ we draw upon this. ‘I am that Light, the Mindthy God, who am before that moist nature that appeared out of darkness; and that bright and lightful Word from the mind is the Son of God.[2] The moist nature that appeared out of darkness. There are many stories about the Goddess descending into and emerging from a cave or dark crevasse from the womb of the earth. Metatron gives knowledge to the Earth, to the womb through projected light consciousness. Cells communicate with each other through emissions of light.[3] This cannot become any more plain than this. We, through the cells and microorganism that compose our form, receive divine thought through the process known as Metatron.

We cannot cease influencing our environment. To do so is to stop thinking, which is something we cannot do. It is through ignorance that we create an environment of suffering. So, what can we do? Let’s talk about that.

The limitation of all knowledge of reality to the world of phenomena revealed to us by experience. – Immauel Kant

All knowledge that may be gathered through reading remains insubstantial. Only when such knowledge is applied does it gain substance, therefore, all of reality is not of debate but must be experienced. The application of knowledge is experience and through experience, knowledge becomes wisdom, or rather information, through application becomes knowledge, and through the experience of knowledge becomes wisdom, which again becomes information once it is passed on, experiencing a type of death until it is once more resurrected or reborn.

Isn’t it All Semantics?

There is only one reality, unity. Unity is perfection, its character is impossible to comprehend for it possesses no limits and no boundaries. There is only its own existence, it cannot perish because it cannot increase nor diminish. Because it is self-identical, it cannot form two beings. The universe is only a center, its center is everywhere.

Putnam, Samuel P. (1894). 400 Years of Freethought.

I am not referring to God, though many will insist upon this being God. I am referring to you. If you believe you have a higher-self, a critical-self, an authentic-self, and all the other descriptors assigned by so-called gurus, you are fractured. For investigative

purposes, we divide the whole in order to better understand the whole because the whole is too vast to comprehend. This is why there are specialists in the field of healthcare. Cardiologists focus on all that is related to the heart. Neurologists focus on all that is related to the brain. Psychologists focus on all that is related to the mind, or thoughts and emotions. Though a specialist may wander into another field of specialty, they defer to the specialist in that field. However, all of these fields belong to healthcare, specifically, care of your health. The same is true about the self, your-self. Designations are used to identify specific aspects of your-self, but they are not separate selves.

We have these inner dialogues as well as those with others. Whereas the ones we have with friends, family, and strangers come to an end, our internal dialogues can go on for hours, days, weeks, or incessantly. While these conversations themselves can be useful, they can also become obsessive, blinding us to our-self until we see ourselves fragmented. The idea of authentic, Christ, or other descriptors is useful, but they fail to reconnect these aspects of ourselves to the whole self, and these aspects become misrepresentations of who we believe ourselves to be.

The experience you are having at this moment is your reality, it is only one reality that is difficult to understand in its entirety. Thus, we focus on chunks of it while allowing the subconscious, which is part of your entire conscious, to absorb what is not being focused upon. Your reality is yours alone. You may become part of another’s reality, just as they become part of your reality, but you only understand your role in their reality making it your reality and they are only a placeholder for the experience your consciousness has taken in.

If you want to learn of God, do not look to scripture and doctrine. Instead, learn about yourself. Investigate yourself. Discover what motivates your actions. Explore the judgements you have made. Understand your existence and you will have discovered the God people are truly afraid of. It is not that God is within you, but that within you is God. I know it is semantics, but isn’t everything semantic?

Spiritualism is the Living Religion of the Living God because Spiritualism is experiential. This experiential quality is something traditional religion does not encourage because it may reveal their folly. The Apostle Paul warns all that the prophet, the Medium, is able to look into the hearts of those who are about them. The prophet or Medium may continuously have religious experiences, allowing them to mold their lives after such experiences. Through these experiential lessons we discover that it is we who are the architects of our Hell or our Paradise, and that our actions towards others are the building blocks used to create them. The physical, mental, and emotional progression in this world is reflected in the soul realm, becoming the building blocks laid up for us when we depart from this existence. How can we discover this? We do so by becoming Mediums and orchestrating our own religious experience.

The religion of Spiritualism is Mediumship. Through Mediumship you may discover your truth, or what is best for you. Mediumship is the path to obtaining such truth and joy. Through Mediumship, you are able to preserve that joy and harmony you will experience.

A Progressive Thought

When someone tells you they do not believe in God, do not become upset. Instead, you should admire them. Why should you admire them? It is not that they do not be in God, it is that they do not believe in your interpretation of God and perhaps they seek a more satisfying understanding. For the philosopher Bruno, it may be that the word God simply means the unity of existence. Many prefer not to define God, or give God any character or personality, or even assign God with any attributes except for the totality of existence, something all-embracing.[1]

For people of such progressive thinking, the Universe, even nature is the expression of God, and all that occurs in nature is the language of God.

Of those seeking to impose their concept of God upon others, they have already deceived themselves. They have assigned limitations to that which they say is limitless. Their insistence upon such archaic thought demonstrates not only their level of ignorance, but also their preference for a lack of knowledge. The progressive mind may seek to convince them otherwise, if only to provide companionship, but it will be of no avail until that closed mind they seek to join attempts to withdraw from the muck it has immersed itself within.

Putnam, S. P. (1894). 400 Years of Freethought.

A Religion called Spirituality

One of the cornerstones of Spiritualism is that it is a religion. Typically, what comes to mind with the word ‘religion’ is doctrines and dogmas. Upon examination, you may find that religion is also a social institution that divides the world in what is considered non-biblical and biblical, with religion being the controlling factor. Religion is commonly defined in this fashion because of the domination of mainstream and traditional religion. The term mainstream is intended to indicate a broader interpretation of the Bible, while traditional religion suggests a narrow interpretation. No single religion is indicated because the three prevailing, and their subcategories, are

primarily connected to the Bible, though not based on the Bible. The Bible is merely a reference that most can easily relate to. Spiritualists, in forming Spiritualism, sought to reconcile their spiritual experiences with the religion with which they were most familiar. Prophets are common in traditional and mainstream religions; thus, an avenue was provided. We must also take into consideration that those souls, or spirits, were also of a religious nature and so were the teachings that were provided through them. What if we dispensed with the idea of religion altogether?

With Spirituality being experiential, there is no room for the limitations of doctrine and dogma, but that leaves us open to another sort of limitation, belief. If the prevailing religions are traditional and mainstream, which are only separated by interpretation because they are reflections of each other, striving to dismiss their siblings, then the beliefs are going to continue along the same lines. When it comes to beliefs, we must keep these observations in mind; beliefs are judgements, and they often develop through a lack of reliable information, thus you remain under the limiting influence of your religion, or as Paul put it, under the law, as were most of the framers of Spiritualism.

Not all of those framers limited themselves to the prevailing religions and beliefs of their day. Some took a different approach. Some of them considered themselves part of the Freethought movement. These people were not interested in faith, nor submitting to the will of religious dogma. They doubted what they heard and read, made inquiries, and investigated the phenomena being witnessed. For these people, the only true investigation was through experimentation and experience. It is the experience that Spirituality is built upon. This is why spiritual truth is relative to the individual. This is why Spirituality is relative to you.

If there were ever a true religion, it would be Spirituality, and it would be the only religion where you develop the doctrine, where you become the dogma of their religion. This is what Spiritualism should be; a religion centered around personal experience. Instead, Spiritualists have made one more of the many denominations of the prevailing religions. I suggest those of us who are deeply invested in a continual Spiritual experience call ourselves Spiritualists. We may be associated with those who subscribe to the mainstream version. Having discovered the spirit of those doctrines, we have moved beyond the limitations many prefer.

Create a Better Life

All of the spiritual teachings of the past imply ‘that mind is creative, and as thought is the only activity which the mind engages in, thought must necessarily be creative also.’ What does this mean to you? Whatever situation you find yourself in, whether you find it pleasing or disturbing, was initiated by you.

How did you do this to yourself? Your actions, specifically your reactions, initiate a chain of events that is often difficult to follow, but not lost on the observer. The cliché, ‘what comes around, goes around,’ or ‘you reap what you sow,’ are observations by others. You, being the cause and at the center of the activity, do not see it that way. You are looking out from the world you have created. When you are looking into the world of another, the results of their actions are obvious. Remember what was written in the Bible, nothing happens to you without God informing you first. The problem is, we are not listening.

What should you be listening to so the situation you are mired in won’t happen again? Your body, your emotions, and the people around you are all telling you what’s happening and are warning you of potential problems. The body develops a fever when it is invaded. Your options include getting rest so the body can take care of itself or ignore the warning and continue as you are until the body takes drastic measures. Anger may tell you that you are lacking something. You may be lacking information, confidence, experience, or something else. In your attempt to save face, you push through causing the situation to become volatile when you should be asking what is causing this response and what can I do to resolve this. When your friends question what you are doing, it is because they see something you do not. Whenever someone questions you or gives a warning, they provide you with an opportunity to reassess your intentions. You have the option to continue, heedless of their warning and risk a backlash, or ask them what they think the problem may be.

When you consider the warning systems the Divine has provided for you, nothing happens without your knowing about it ahead of time. All you have to do is learn to listen, investigate, and act appropriately.

The above description can be observed in nature. All science is built upon the observation of nature on a variety of levels, whether through mechanical devices or through the naked eye. There is no such thing as man-made science because all science derives its beginnings from the observation of nature, and the attempt to recreate what was observed, as was seen in the Gnostic creations. All things emanate from nature and all things emanate back to nature that which was received. Hence, a seed will always produce its own kind, ‘as above, so below.’

The Philosophy of Spiritualism:

What is Spiritualism and what is it about? We are familiar with the demonstration of Spiritualism, but what about the deeper meaning of Spiritualism?

Son of God

Hermetic teachings fall in line with Gnostic teachings and are part of the Gnostic teachings because both focus on the mysteries of spiritual knowledge. Are they religious teachings? I am not sure. There does not appear to be a doctrine, however, many of them have been translated or rewritten with a traditional slant. In this version, Hermes experiences a vision, which again, there are a variety of versions available. In this one, he experiences Poemander in a vision and is told, ‘I am that Light, the Mindthy God, who am before that moist nature that appeared out of darkness; and that bright and lightful Word from the mind is the Son of God.’[1]

In one of our Spirit Teachings, it was suggested that experiences such as this, might lead one to claim they spoke with God, when, in reality, they have communed with their version of what God should be like. In many writings attributed to the Mystery Schools, light is attributed to the intellect, or intelligence. If you are wondering how this came to be, we need only suggest you gaze at any of the religious works of art from the Middle Ages. A halo is always painted around the head of spiritual teachers or angels. This is most likely due to those students seeing a glow around the head, or crown, of their teacher. The mind has always been a mystery because it is associated with consciousness or self-awareness on a higher degree than the average person. When we encounter visions such as this, we are more likely to assume the figure is God because of the manner of presentation, which is usually a grand spectacle such as a ball of light or fire, as has been used in several spiritual writings.

The important part of the quote is ‘that moist nature that appeared out of darkness.’ All that is created comes from a moist dark place. When seeds are planted, they are placed in a hole, covered up with dirt, and watered. This creates a moist dark place. When we were in the womb, there was no light, only darkness or diffused light and shadows. We were suspended in amniotic fluid. Again, dark, and moist. I could go on with examples, but you get the idea.

Darkness, in most spiritual and mystery writings, suggests a level of ignorance. Before wisdom can occur, one must become ignorant. In this case, that which begins to grow is ignorant of the light within. Meaning that you are often ignorant, or unaware, of the potential for wisdom that rests within you.

In this quote, Poemander claims to be that which existed, and continues to exist, before the creation of life, or more precisely, before you were created. Many seek the source of all that is, thinking that it is outside of them. The Source of all that is, the mystery of it all can be found within the stillness of mind, which is the Great Mystery because what we seek can only be discovered in others and sought within. We are the creator of our life, of our existence, of all that we experience. Why? Our Word is the focus of our Will, and we speak of destruction often and sometimes far easier than we speak of creation.

Blessed is the person who has suffered and found life. What could this possibly mean? Suffered and found life.

Many of us visit Spiritualist churches and psychics hoping to glean some kind of information that may help us through the day, the week, or the month. They are not Mediums, they are messengers, angels bringing us hope. This is also not Spiritualism. Until Mediumship is understood, those investigating Spiritualism may not fully benefit. Yes, Mediumship is the communication with the so-called dead, which means that what Spiritualism is, can be found in such communications, but not in the messages brought from those in the soul realm. The demonstration of Spiritualism is not for the Message bearer to bring tidings, nor is it the Medium allowing those souls to teach through them. Spiritualism is about the individual communing of souls. Spiritualism is for you and is intended for you to develop the skill of Mediumship. For you to do  this, you must cultivate curiosity, you must seek to better understand yourself. To further develop Mediumship from mere messenger to Medium, you become free of mental, emotional, and physical clutter, for such clutter is a distraction from the true experience of the soul.
